RESEARCH · POLICY · ADVOCACY
Systems built
on consent and
clarity.
I help institutions translate policy into practice — so harassment and violence response processes are clear, consistent, and human-centered. I also work as an editorial and commercial model.

WHO I AM
Rosalie Lisa Burgess
also Rosie, also Jane Doe
I'm a writer, researcher, and creative whose work is rooted in purpose. Whether that takes the form of research, policy, advocacy, or a personal essay, I'm drawn to work that means something — work shaped by lived experience, honest communication, and a deep respect for autonomy.
Most of what I do comes back to that word: purpose. I'm not interested in going through the motions. I'm interested in what's actually happening, what it costs people, and what it looks like when systems work the way they're supposed to.
I'm an emerging scholar whose work moves across disciplines — connecting scientific research, critical analysis, and public-facing writing. Since 2018, I've also worked as a model, with a practice now evolving toward advocacy-focused imagery.

PHILOSOPHY
Advocacy, for me, is personal.
I know what persistent stress feels like — the heaviness of it, the way uncertainty seeps into everything, including your ability to keep going. I've experienced firsthand what it means when consent, accountability, and communication are treated like formalities rather than necessities.
I'm guided by a respect for autonomy. The kind that shows up in insisting on being heard, and expecting processes to be clear enough that people aren't left guessing. Accommodations aren't extras. They're the difference between continuing with dignity and being asked to carry more than one person should.
That's why this work matters. And that's why I do it.
"I'm not interested in going through the motions. I'm interested in what's actually happening, what it costs people, and what it looks like when systems work the way they're supposed to."
